I need an experienced mechanical engineer specializing in thermal analysis and simulation to work on a project related to Li-ion batteries. I have already done some work. I don't know about battery modeling on ANSYS Fluent. I am trying to mimic TR using a thermal model. The geometry and the parameters are taken from the research paper (the research paper is attached). I propagated TR using a user-defined function (UDF) on ANSYS Fluent, but I couldn't get a higher cell temperature than the one mentioned in the paper. The UDF contains the data points and Time extrapolated from the research paper (Fig. 5). The heat generation is calculated using q''' = rho*Cp*dT/dt. (The work should be done on ANSYS Fluent). Key Tasks: - Conduct detailed thermal analysis and simulation on a Li-ion battery. - Show the transient response of cell temperature vs. Time (s) and heat generation (W/m3) vs. Time (s) - Temperature contour plots - Update UDF code. - Provide recommendations and solutions based on the analysis. - The simulation data should match the graph (Fig. 5 from the paper) Ideal Skills: - Proficiency in thermal analysis and simulation tools. - Strong understanding of Li-ion battery technology. - Experience in similar projects preferred. - Experience in ANSYS Fluent and UDF functions. Note: Please provide samples of previous work, especially if they are related to battery technology. Hi, Thank you for sending the documents and briefly explaining about the task. After spending a couple of hours on reading the paper and understanding it, it seems like to validate the simulation with the fault evolution model, the total heat released needed to be calculated. To currently predict the cell temperature, the heat released must be defined as a source within the fluent environment. You already provided an UDF with some temperature and heat calculations. When i used these values the cell temperature was about 80C. To resolve this, I had extracted the values from the graph provided in the paper and try to scale my heat released to match the cell temperatures. By doing so, the maximum cell temperature is around 300 C with a small deviation in time. Usually, for a Thermal Runaway problem, the heat released is usually determined by the experiment unlike in paper, where is a function f(T) is used to calculate it.
