Requirements Interview Answers:
To help you bid more accurately, the employer was interviewed about the requirements for this project. Below are their answers. Untitled Page
Project Type: What kind of work do you need done?
Software related (Includes desktop applications and internet websites)
Project Parts: What do you want the worker to do on this project?
Requirements: The worker will analyze the problem and propose a software-based solution to the problem.
Programming: The worker will take the requirements and translate them into the language of the computer (and test it).
User installation: The installer will move the software from the place it was created (which is called the development or QC environment) to where you will use it (which is called the production environment). The installer then tests the software to make sure that the installation was done properly and completely.
Req. Doc. Type: What kind of documentation do you want for this project?
Formal documentation - After talking back and forth, the worker creates a formal document and/or prototype, as follows:
  • Prototype: The analyst will create a non-working mockup of all pages/screens in the final software. Creating a prototype makes it easier for the user to visualize the final software, and reduces misunderstandings.
  • Requirements Document: The analyst will create a document describing everything the final software will do (other than what is documented in the prototype...if the employer required one).
Program Type: What kind of software should the worker create (and/or install)?
  • An internet web-site: This software runs on a web server and users will access it using their internet browser.
Internet web-site info
Design and functionality: What does the programming of this project involve?
  • Design: Create the layout of the pages (or modify the layout of existing pages).
  • Program Functionality: Making the website "work".
Modeling another site: Do you wish to model another site? No
Size of website: How many pages need to be created/edited in this website?
I don't know.
Other info:unlimited
Programming Language: What programming language(s) do you want your website written in?
I don't know what language (and need the worker's assistance to suggest it).
Other info:latest programming languages- this will be compared against competitors. so pitch your best technical strength.
Database: Will this project include a database?
Yes, it does include a database.
Details:
  • MySQL -- version(s): latest
  • Visual FoxPro -- version(s): latest
Browser Type(s)/Version(s): Which browser/version combinations must this website support?
  • IE 8.0
  • IE 7.0
  • IE 6.0
  • Firefox 3.6
  • Firefox 3.0
  • Firefox 2.0-2.x
  • Firefox 1.5
  • Safari 41
  • Firefox 1.0
Server Hosting Environment: What is your server hosting environment?
I have a server at a 3rd party hosting company.
The name of the hosting company is: hostmonster.com
The server's shared/dedicated status is: I don't know.

Component Compatibility Protection:
Sometimes a worker may create features on the website that rely on componentswhich work fine on their own server, but won't work with your 3rd party hosting company's server. There are many reasons for this including version incompatibility, restricted permissions, etc... vWorker.com normally requires that the worker verify in advance that your 3rd party hosting provider will support the components.  If they do not, then they are responsible for any incompatibilities, rather than you. Do you want this protection on your project?
Yes, I require the worker to query my hosting company in advance, to ensure that they support all components which the worker uses in the final solution (including supporting the anticipated version #s, allowing components to run under their potentially restricted security model, etc.)
Server Hosting Environment: Will the worker develop "live" on your server?
No. The worker is responsible for creating their own development and/or qc environment.
Physical installation: Who will perform the physical installation?
The worker will perform the physical installation, and will be given all necessary permissions to do so.
Legal: 1) I require complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done (so that I may modify it in the future).
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
2a) Any website server-side deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
2b) If there are any server-side deliverables (intended to only exist in one place in the Buyer's environment) then they must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition (unless specified elsewhere by the Buyer).
2c) All other software (including but not limited to any desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute) must include a software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request (unless specified elsewhere by the Buyer).
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S & U.K. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
3b) No part of the deliverable may contain any copyright restricted 3rd party components (including GPL, GNU, Copyleft, etc.) unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the seller's Seller Legal Agreement.

Why and how to write your Software proposal? Beyond being polite and presenting what you have to offer, the proposal gives you a unique opportunity to emphasize (1) how your offering matches the my company’s needs, and (2) what are the benefits we may thus reap from identifying your solution as the best match for our requirements. These two ensure you that your reader will seize your unique qualifications that no one else can offer, what exactly makes your organization stand out of competitors in relation to this project. (2) At the same time, the proposal represents the official authorization of your proposal by your organization. (3) It gives you the opportunity to respond adequately by sort of ticking the requirements you can honour and mitigating or suggesting a better alternative to items in the requirements. (4) List the most important qualifications and benefits of both your product and organization. (5) Give accurate time and cost estimates. (6) References or examples of previous relevant work done to help us assess your level of strength and ability. (7) Please give your team structure – i.e number of developers, testers, QA, compilers, documentation and others?? we look forward to receiving your submissions as soon as possible (within the next 7 days). thanks for your co-operation.

Expert Guarantee Required:

It is crucial to the employer that this entire project be completed (100%) by the deadline of 45 days. They only want expert workers who will commit themselves to this deadline to bid. If you are not an expert or unable to commit completely to the deadline, then DO NOT BID on this project.

If you are an expert and can commit, the employer would like you to demonstrate this by making an
Expert Guarantee of at least 4% of your bid. (This would not need to be made now...but only if and when you are are selected as the winning bidder). If you complete the job (100% by the deadline), then your deposit would be refunded to you. If you do not, then you would forfeit the deposit and it would go to cover the employer's cancellation charge and the remainder donated to a non-profit charity.

Please note that depending on how you choose to make the deposit, there may be a small, non-refundable processing fee. This fee can be reduced or eliminated by choosing a less expensive method of payment. Or, you may wish to ask the employer to cover the cost of the fee for you. You can do this in a number of ways such as: increasing the price of your bid, asking the employer to post a 2nd project to cover it (contingent on completion of the project), or by getting the employer to promise to pay the fee to you as a bonus (upon completion of the project). If you choose the bonus route, just remember that due to credit card/PayPal rules, vWorker.com CANNOT force an employer to pay a bonus involuntarily...even when promised on-site. So don't choose this option, unless you trust the employer, or are willing to take a small risk.

This is just a very brief overview of how the Expert Guarantee works and there are many more details that you need to understand fully before you bid on this project. DO NOT BID on this project until you've read and fully understand everything about the Expert Guarantee (including reading the contract and the FAQs).

Aurokripa (the worker) was selected by lopejo (the employer), and had 3 days to either escrow the Expert Guarantee, or decline the project. Aurokripa chose to decline it. Doing so is within all worker's rights, since their circumstances sometimes change drastically between the time they bid and the time a employer eventually selects them (for example, they may have been awarded other projects). A neutral rating was given to Aurokripa and all funds were returned back to lopejo.
