Your Employer Approves Work / Timecard

How you do this depends on the project payment type you chose when you posted the project:

Fixed-price

Now sit back while the employer approves your work.  If your deliverables are at all time sensitive, don't forget to email a copy to the employer yourself.

85-90% of the time, employers either sign off or communicate back any issues very quickly. However, if you run into a non-responsive employer, just alert the facilitator and he/she will get the process rolling again. If you have completed the contract fully, by the deadline and in the industry-expected manner (including filing any required status reports), but the employer *still* does not wish to pay you, then you can exercise your payment guarantee using the same link. An arbitrator will test the work and then award the funds to you from escrow.

Hourly

Once the timecard ends, the employer has up to 3 days to approve or contest the timecard. If they do not, then the timecard is auto-approved. Once it is approved (or auto-approved), the funds are awarded to your account.

99% of the time, the employer approves the timecard. However if the employer alleges fraud, then they can place the timecard images into arbitration. If the arbitrator cannot confirm fraud then you are paid. However, if they do, then you are not paid (and can receive a poor rating and/or have your account permanently closed). For this reason it's important to always accurately record your time. See the rules of arbitration on 'Hourly' projects for more details.
